Media Literacy PSA

PSA

I believe that my PSA has a clear theme: Be mindful of what you post on Facebook. It is easy for a post to get caught in a downward spiral and before you know it, someone is the victim of cyber-bullying. I believe that there exists enough evidence to make my point. Anyone can log onto Facebook, or any media site really, and see negative posts and images and people arguing their opinions. It wouldn't take long to find nasty comments being made and people expressing their hurt feelings. I use a lot of color, both in the backgrounds and the text. Even though this is supposed to be emotional appealing and somewhat dark, I still want to make a positive impression on the viewers. I believe that bright colors and nice pictures will help me do this. The dramatic low music adds a nice calming, although suspenseful, aspect to the video. The last scene sums up my PSA perfectly: Think Before You Post.

  1. Amanda,
I thought that your PSA was great to watch! The attention at the beginning is something that would catch everyones eye. Your purpose is so clear and your images go perfectly with each message that you have. Everything flowed so nice and the images were a great part that everyone can see and possibly relate to. I think that this is very insightful and would get everyone to pay attention. Great Job!

  2. The beginning of your PSA really hooks the viewer in and knocks the audience anticipation margin on the rubric of the chart! Nice job! Your argument and statement is very clear and the images that you chose relate exactly with what you are trying to explain. The last slide is clear cut and straight to the point, tying everything together. So, therefore even if someone only caught the last seconds of the PSA they would still be able to clearly understand your message. I also liked the music, it was a nice touch. Not too much, but not too little! Good Job!

  3. I didn't find this PSA dark. The music was very suspenseful. I didn't find it calming. There was a lot of movement in each slide making me watch what was happening. I think your theme of "Think before you post" was evident throughout the PSA.

As part of my TIS Certification I am required to provide Digital Literacy information during open house, parent/teacher conferences or other times when parents and students are in the building. I would like to use your PSA at one of these during the year if that is okay with you.

  4. Amanda,
Fantastic! I really loved this PSA. The theme and topic are incredibly important, as it is my experience that most people absolutely don't not care/think about what they post. I love the rhetorical tools you use. The dramatic tone of the music, the stoplight colors of stop, think, post, and the animated text really helps to draw attention to the seriousness of the PSA. Aside from the presentation, you do a great job of providing background information and statistics to back up your claim. I also really enjoy the creativity and imagination you put into this PSA. This video took some work, and I appreciate that!
    Great job!!

  5. I really love how your PSA came together! I love how your target audience is students, not parents or teachers. You're going straight to them, asking them about what they post and whether or not it's a responsible thing. I can think of many people who could easily benefit from watching this, especially when you discuss current events. Great job!

  6. Amanda, I think your PSA is great! I liked that you chose to target your PSA toward students. It showed me a different perspective, since mine was aimed at parents and teachers. I think you did a great job relaying your message and getting your point across. This is a very important topic, especially among young people today who seem to think that they can post whatever they please without any consequences. You showed them the importance of thinking before they post, and I think you did a great job!

  7. You did a great job on your PSA. The beginning is very attention-getting, and that energy follows the entire presentation. I think it is great that your presentation is targeting students because it shows online use from a different perspective. Your message was clear and easy to understand. You had a meaningful message that is very relevant to students today.
