What I don't think people really realize is that what they post can have an affect on their Facebook friends, some of whom are family, or even children. People need to stop and just think before they hit that share button. Hopefully, with my PSA, I can keep at least one person from posting something harmful.
The audience for my PSA can be all people on social media. Young people aren't the only one's who post things that are insensitive to other people. Adults are just as guilty.
Persuasive techniques that I am attempting to use are plain folk and individuality. The main technique that I am using is emotional appeal.
I like your light music with dramatic sounds for effect. This is usually an attention getter. You are using a lot of emotional appeal, which is what I’m using also. Let’s hope people are still affected by their emotions. I think your idea for images seem to go with your concept and text for each page. I liked the area we could put our citing in each slide. You’ve done a good job with this.
ReplyDeleteFlame wars are a big deal on social media. My husband has a FB and he's shown me examples of incredibly rude and hateful things people say to each other in debate groups and sometimes even on someone's wall. By focusing on the escalation, you draw attention to a serious issue. Would there be a way you could also give advice as to how NOT to react if someone tries to engage you in flames? I think it's instinctive to respond when you feel under attack.
ReplyDeleteAmanda,
ReplyDeleteOur PSA's are very similar. I also chose light soft music because I think that it would sound nice with this topic. Emotional appeal is the best persuasive technique for this PSA. I think that with your images and the message you want to send that your PSA will be great to see. People today really need to consider different things before they post. I have never heard of the word "flame war" but I have seen it a lot on social media. Things can get very heated and intense when people are posting awful things on social media.
I love the vast amount of emotional appeal that you have incorporated into your PSA! Your message is very clear and to the point! You are touching and educating on a pertinent issue in your announcement. Flame wars are blown so far out of proportion on social networks that they actually end up leading to things such as cyber bullying and hate groups. I think the finished product will be well worth the watch! Nice work!
ReplyDeleteI really like your ideas for images. I think they'll be very emotional and really grab the attention of your audience. Your image and text choices seem to go together really well, also. I think this will be an enlightening PSA that makes people think about how what they do might effect someone else. I'm excited to see what your end result looks like.
ReplyDeleteAmanda,
ReplyDeleteAwesome PSA. I am so happy to see so many of our classmates thinking creatively and responsibly about social media posts and the real life impact they can have. I think your PSA storyboard is great. It's logical, coherent, makes sense throughout, and it's really important to get this message out. I hope you choose to share this PSA with the other people that this class, because it's so needed right now. Your storyboard was put together quite well, and I look forward to seeing the end result.
Thanks,
Michael Gallimore
